Ready to meet the Deadliest Monster? As we start a new semester in our literature class, we will compare and contrast Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde with Frankenstein. If possible, get your own copy of The Deadliest Monster by Jeff Baldwin in time for the first class, so that you can read ahead. You can buy an inexpensive copy of * Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, or click on the links to read the free electronic versions. Regarding Frankenstein, Ambleside says, "Please do not shy away from this book based on the way popular horror movies have grossly revised it. Do please give this book a try. If what you know about Frankenstein is based on a movie, you will be very pleasantly surprised."

Which leads me to a problem--trying to find a movie to watch for Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll. Any suggestions? Unless we can find movies that are true to the books, there is no point in watching them. Also, we will need to change the Lit. class night from Monday to another night, or else have the class at my house on Monday (which is fine for me, but will mean more driving for everybody else). Any suggestions or comments?
